Interior design for summer residence/guest area and childrens' room.

For a private client Studio Voortman & Girod has made a design for the souterrain and the bel etage. The building is very old. The souterrain is now being used as a guest area, working area and entrance to the garden. The connection to the bel etage is important. The souterrain has got a different lay-out, a more pratical one.

For the bel etage the design was mostly concentrated on the childrens' bedroom and the connection to the souterrain. The childrens' bedroom had to be made temporarely suitable for two children. The passage to the souterrain has been made open and the staircase will be partially be re-used. De corridor will be looking less narrow, also by introducing more light.

The shower and toilet have become more spacious and there is more space for the working area. The kitchen can also be used as a 'bar' and the couch can be used for guests to sleep on.

To get nature more in to the room, there's a lot of green used in the interior. In the bathing area there will be a special pattern of coloured tiles. The floor will be finished with a practical, synthetic flooring.

The souterrain and the bel etage are completely different in ambiance, that's why the staircase is designed in two parts and different materials. The staircase can be used as a cabinet as well.
