Interior design for the main bedroom of a private house.

For a private client in Oostvoorne Studio Voortman & Girod has made a design for the parents' bedroom. The excisting building is very old (national monument). Becouse of the size of the room and becouse of all the doors and windows in the room the lay out was hard to design. The space has a big pointed roof, which was finished with dark painted wood. Beside a bed there should be a lot of cabinets for clothing and a there had to be a little working area.
Ground plan and sections of the bedroom. Eventually the studio designed a big cabinet, which creates a corridor form the entrance of the bedroom to the entrance of the bathroom. The sleeping area has been seperated form the walking area, which is also a function of the same room. The cabinet sticks out above the beams and can be used from two sides. There is space for a little working area at the left of the bed. The cabinet is made of light Plexwood, and the rest of the space is soothing in colour. The cabinet is most prominent. More colour or pattern would be to vibrant.

By letting the cabinet stick out a little above the beams, the whole space will be more spatial. The ceiling will be painted white, so the space will look even bigger.
