Under the Erasmusbridge in Rotterdam the Studio has completed the waiting area of the Rotterdam Port Experience. This experience is a public attraction on the Rotterdam port and the city. The RPEX is a project of the Port of Rotterdam with support of the city of Rotterdam. The concept of the experience came from Bert Kranendonk, the production was provided by Kranendonk Experience Network BV.

Studio Voortman & Girod has won a pitch and has thus been given permission to design waiting area in the departure hall of the Rotterdam Port Experience. The people who want to visit the Experience can wait in the waiting room before they enter the Experience. The atmosphere comes from the 1930's through the use of many pictures from around that time.

The entire terminal is spectacular, that is why the Studio designed a "calmer" atmosphere in this part. There are seat elements in different heights across the waiting room. The walls are covered with a print of people waving goodbye. The atmosphere of waiting for an exciting adventure (like old cruiseboats used to have as well) is strengthened.
